8 Reasons Why The F1 Needs To Go On Your Bucket List For 2017

8 reasons why you NEED to add the F1 in Singapore to your travel bucket list for 2017 - Words by Hayley / Pictures by Hayley...

I recently returned from an EPIC (yet whirlwind of a trip) to Singapore – read all about that here. When the invite dropped through my inbox, I was crazy excited to return to one of my favourite places; although I was a little skeptical. The invite was to watch the F1, I’ve never really followed the F1 too much nor do I have too much of a clue about what’s going on (although I know is.. Lewis Hamilton.. HUBBA HUBBA!). I wasn’t really sure what to expect but I thought what the hell – you gotta try everything once right? Otherwise how will you know if you like it or not! And oh my god it was one of the best weekends of my life. You know that moment when you thank your lucky stars that you agreed to do something?! YEAH, THAT!

If you’ve ever watched the F1 live, you’ll understand the buzz. It’s such an enjoyable sport to watch, the noise of the cars ignites this feeling inside of you that is indescribable until you actually feel it! I watched the F1 all three nights, once from the Singapore suites – which was the most insane view of the track and the best night in Singapore by far! I also watched it from the grandstand which is so exciting yet surreal as you can barely see the cars you just see them whizz by (whilst everyone sits there like cats trying to catch a toy – whizzing their heads from side to side trying to catch a glimpse of the cars), and the last night I watched it from 1 Altitude so I could see the track from above, and wow, the views were seriously incredible!!

So, if I haven’t sold it to you already; then here’s 8 reasons why you NEED to add watching the F1 in Singapore to your 2017 bucket list next year…

1.) It’s a once in a lifetime experience that I will genuinely cherish for the rest of my life. I’m a true believer of trying everything once, don’t write it off because you don’t follow the F1 or you’re not a ‘sports kind of girl’ because trustttttttt me babes, nor am I but I bloody loved it!

2.) The F1 in Singapore isn’t just about the race, there is live music every night and they have some bloody incredible acts! This year they had Kylie Minouge, Queen with Adam Lambert & Imagine Dragons as well as appearances from Dynamo. I watched Queen & Adam Lambert and it was honestly one of the best live performances I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching – they absolutely killed it! Queen are one of those bands that just have so many legendary songs, I think I knew and sang along to everything bar about 2 songs… best gig ever!!

3.) It changes everything in Singapore! I went to Singapore back in May and absolutely loved it, but the vibe and atmosphere the F1 creates really is indescribable, you just have to witness it for yourself!

4.) Watch the race from a different perspective! Like I said, I managed to watch the F1 from 3 different locations and I would highly recommend it, as it’s great to see the track from different angles!

5.) Tickets for the F1 start from around $250 which is about £150 for the whole 3 nights including live music on all nights, which I think is great value for money! Past musical acts have including Beyonce, Rhianna and Bastille so it’s great for the music alone!

6.) However, if you’re still on the fence about whether to purchase a ticket or not, then head to the bar at the National Gallery for a few cocktails; the bar has an epic view of the track and will be a great experience even if you just watch it for one night – you just have to have to have to watch it!

7.) I was on such a high when I came home, I couldn’t believe that I’d actually watched the F1 live from Singapore – it was such a surreal trip and it will leave you with such a buzz that you’ll carry around for a long time!

8.) BECAUSE LEWIS HAMILTON (don’t even need to say anything else on that one do I girlls?!)

Have you been to watch the F1 before? Is this something you'd like to watch in Singapore? Have you visited Singapore before?

*A hugeeeeeeee thank you to the Singapore Tourism board and the lovely Melanie  for the most incredible trip, as always!

I’ve never been interested in F1 before, but now that I’ve read your experience, I might just have to watch it sometime in the future! Doesn’t hurt that I’m just one hour away by flight too. Sounds like you had an awesome experience! x

This race has been on my bucket list since it was introduced to the race calendar along with Abu Dhabi. I love motor racing and I think it is something everyone should experience at least once – Silverstone doesn’t have the bright lights, glorious whether or big name entertainment BUT it does have fast cars, Pimms and drama!
