#12Countries12Months: Part 7 – Barcelona

Last month I surprised my BFFL to Barcelona for her birthday and we had an absolute blast! Before I booked the trip, everyone I spoke to couldn’t believe that I’d never been to Barca previously, and I couldn’t either really. It was always on the bucket list, a city break I’d been itching to do for quite some time! So when June rolled round I decided to book the trip for my besties birthday celebrations and I could not have loved it anymore!

I booked us an Air bnb to stay in so we could have more of a ‘locals’ experience during our stay, the apartment we stayed in was so god damn beautiful; all crooked floors and wooden beamed ceilings, packed with cute paintings, cacti and homely décor. I hadn’t planned anything for us to do other than dinner at the W Hotel one night (more on that here!), I love just winging trips, it’s always great to have recommendations in the back of your mind but I love just walking the streets and stumbling across lovely boutiques, burger joints and hidden gems.

Whilst there we partied in Pacha, drank cocktails on the beach whilst the sun set, visited the infamous Gaudi artworks, did a little shopping, laughed so hard I *actually thought I was going to be sick (was that TMI?! – sorry!), we genuinely had the best time, laughed from start to finish and made memories for life!

I could not recommend Barcelona anymore if I tried! You can book a cheap flight with easyjet, pick up some affordable accommodation through Air bnb (or booking.com if you’d rather stay in a hotel), and go explore that beautiful city! Here’s a snippet of what we got up to whilst we were there and what I’d recommend if you are visiting!

What to do in Barcelona: Eat at the Salt Restautant; W Hotel, visit Gaudi's Park Guell, shop at Passeig de garcia, party at Pacha, drink cocktails along the beachfront, tuck into yummy burgers at Bacao, eat fresh churros with chocolate sauce, take in the sites on the streets & ride a bike around town!
