Why It’s Important To Know Where Your Jewellery Is Coming From!

I'm digging a littler deeper with Fairtrade jewellery brand; Cred Jewellery to style up their new collection and learn all about their background!

Let’s rewind a couple of weeks to my first blog post with Cred Jewellery, where I styled up my favourite rose gold pieces from its ‘Iconic’ collection in Miami. It was a pleasure to introduce the brand to you guys... and you all seemed to love the collection! I would say the last post was a ‘soft introduction’ – I went a little into the background on the brand and everything it stands for, however, today I’m taking things a little deeper, taking you all the way to Peru with Cred Jewelleryso grab a cuppa and let’s dive in together!

CRED & FAIRTRADE:

In my last post I touched on how Cred Jewellery prides itself on being the ‘go-to’ brand for Fairtrade jewellery in the UK (it was actually the first brand to bring certified Fairtrade Silver to the UK which I think is pretty darn amazing!), but today I wanted to take a deeper look into what Fairtrade actually is and explore how Cred Jewellery really is at the forefront of the jewellery trade right now.

THE MINES:

Cred Jewellery are working with two mining companies in Peru; Macdesa and Sotrami, two of the fastest growing small scale mining companies during the past ten years, which is an incredible achievement due to the support of Cred Jewellery. Macdesa alone has nearly 550 families from different ethic and cultural backgrounds living there, and thanks to the close community they are able to preserve their ancestors mining knowledge as well as incorporate new clean technology and secure practices.

With the support and contribution of Cred Jewellery and the Fairtrade Certification, they are able to help improve the quality of life for the workers as well as the local, regional and national development. By purchasing Cred’s Fairtrade, conflict free Jewellery you are in return, helping to also support the workers and mines to build a safe and friendly working environment.

Since working with Cred Jewellery it has really opened my eyes to the jewellery trade, the prices of Cred’s Fairtrade jewellery is at most only 3% more than some non fairtrade products, I honestly believe that it’s worth the extra investment to know that the money is helping to support a worthy cause and give people a better lifestyle and way of living!

 WHAT I'M STYLING:

I decided to shoot the beautiful Silver Signature Charm Necklace whilst on a recent trip to Singapore in the Botanical Gardens, it felt like the perfect location to shoot such a stunning piece! The Signature Pendants can be layered with charms or worn on their own, I opted for the gold ‘Forever And A Day’ charm and the ’Free Spirit Charm’ which I love, the mixture of turquoise, gold and silver looked so beautiful together!
