#TipsTuesday: How Travel is the only thing that can make you richer

Do you want to be rich? Sure you do. Money = nice things. Nice houses, nice cars, nice handbags. And so the list goes on. It’s so easy to get caught up in the rat race, go to work, earn money (plenty of it we all hope), sleep, repeat. It’s easy to forget that time is passing so quickly. That we just get one shot on this earth. Which is why I plan to live life to the fullest, to take every opportunity by the horns and run with it. Why I plan to travel extensively whilst I'm able.

Since I hit the 25 mark last year I realised a few things, if something or someone doesn’t benefit your life, remove them. Life is too short to be surrounded by toxic people who make you feel bad or treat you poorly. Life should be full of laughter, and love, and colour, and friends, and sights and travel. For me, the best memories that I’ll cherish for the rest of my life won’t be that designer handbag I bought, or the house I’m saving for. It was will the trip to Greece where I met my best friend Megan, the month I spent exploring Thailand and Malaysia with my pretty-much-sister Amy, or the four days I spent discovering Iceland with my love, Ben. These moments will remain with me forever through good times or bad, I’ll always cherish them and keep them close to my heart.

For me, travel is the one thing you can truly buy that makes you richer. You exchange money for memories, for laughter, for culture, to make new friends and meet new people, you don’t exchange it for an item that you will own for the duration of your time on this earth. And that for me is invaluable, you can’t put a price on travel, to me it’s worth every penny, and some!

That’s why I decided this year I wanted to travel more, I’m fortunate enough that I can share it with you guys, I can document my life and take you along for the ride with me. At 25 years old, I don’t feel ready, I don’t want to root myself in a place called ‘home’. For me I don’t have a home, sure I have the house where I grew up in and although it was always be home, for me, home truly is where the heart is. I want to take my wandering feet and explore the world, I want to emerse myself in different cultures, make friends across the globe and live in different countries.

One day I’ll be ready to settle, but right now, I’m investing my money into memories because that makes me the richest woman alive!

Really enjoyed reading this and I completely agree with you that travel really is the only thing that makes you richer. I’m currently planning a 6 month back packing trip to SE Asia, Australia and New Zealand and I can’t wait!

Can’t believe I’ve only just discovered your blog, it looks fantastic and I’m reading through all your posts!

I just love following your journey! Ihonestly haven’t been abroad now in almost 2 years, and before that it was about 4 years, I really do wish I could do more travelling, but having a 4 year old and wanting to travel is tough (and more expensive!) So I am really hoping once Iain and I are finished having children, and leave the house, we will get a chance to explore all the places we want to. We should be around the 45-50 mark! If I could change anything about my life it would be having my son later on, and having the chance to go travelling, but hey.. we are happy making memories at Haven holiday parks for now, even if it is no where near as beautiful as your travels *sob* lol

I loved reading this post, you’re absolutely right, travel is the only thing that truly makes us rich. Just like you my fondest memories were made abroad, on a safari in SA or at the beach of San Diego. I’m trying to travel as much as I can, although I do love having a home and a place to come back to, and I love that there are so many possibilities today (such as cs, workaway etc). xx
