You guys know that I’m a sucker for rose gold jewellery (or anything rose gold for that matter!), I adore the way the rose quartz sits against the skin, so when I was asked to help launch the new Iconic Collection from Cred Jewellery, I couldn’t wait to style these beautiful pieces… and what better way than on a recent trip to Miami!
Whilst I absolutely love the style and design of the Iconic Collection, Cred isn’t just all about pretty jewellery, it goes way deeper than that, as they are the go-to brand for Fairtrade silver and gold and were actually the first brand to bring certified Fairtrade Silver to the UK, and launched the world’s first collection made from it… cool, huh?!
So whilst Cred is all about creating beautiful pieces, that keep up to date with current trends, the brand's aim is to give the miners they work with, a better life. So, what does Fairtrade actually mean? The Fairtrade certification means that miners and workers are paid a guaranteed minimum price and have better working conditions, the staff are looked after efficiently and there will be no children on site. On top of this, they receive a premium to invest back into their community.
You will see a slight increase in price when purchasing Fairtrade jewellery (but only around 10-15% more than non-Fairtrade pieces), in my eyes it’s worth paying a little extra knowing that the jewellery has been fairly sourced and the miners are treated well. The diamond trade especially, has always notoriously created conflict, so it’s nice to see Cred leading the way to making the jewellery industry a better place!
So, who are Cred Jewellery?
Let’s take it back to 1996; when Cred Jewellery were born…
Back in 2003, Cred Jewellery established the first transparent supply chain of Gold and Platinum from Oro Verde in Columbia, and were the first jewellery company to pay social premiums for Ecological Gold. In 2010, they moved across the seas and set up a shop in central London so it would be easier for their customers to visit.
In 2011, Cred made a breakthrough as they were the first company to produce a Fairtrade Gold wedding ring and to be a part of the certified Fairtrade system, then in 2013 they launched the worlds first Fairtrade silver.
Now you know all about Cred, its background and how the brand is standing up for the miners, it’s time to talk OOTD snaps (‘outfit of the day’ for any non bloggys out there), I wanted to style these beautiful pieces whilst in Miami as there were beautiful backdrops wherever you looked. I decided to shoot some of the pictures at Wynwood which is an arts district, every wall and surface is covered in murals, graffiti and street art, it was one of the most colourful and inspirational places that I have ever had the chance to visit! I also snapped a couple of detail shots in the Perez Art Museum against this copper backdrop as I loved how the jewellery looked against it!
So, there we have it - an overview of this groundbreaking jewellery brand and how I styled my favourite pieces in Miami!
Now, tell me… have you purchased any of Fairtrade jewellery before? What are your favourite pieces from the new Iconic collection?
