We Wander For Distraction, But We Travel For Fulfilment

“We wander for distraction, but we travel for fulfilment” – Hilaire Belloc

As soon as I saw this quote it summed up my current situation and instantly I knew I had to share it with you all. I can’t lie when I booked this trip to Thailand and Malaysia it was to distract myself, a distraction from the fact that my six year relationship had unraveled before my eyes in a matter of days over some fling. I wanted to get away from reality and home, too much reminded me of him, of us. I wanted to be anywhere but there so I headed back to my favourite country – Thailand, next week we are exploring Malaysia which I’m super excited about as I’ve never been before!

I realised once I’d arrived in Thailand and gotten a few drunken deep and meaningful’s and nights out with my bestie out of the way, I realised why I was doing this and it all made sense. I feel like I was meant to explore and travel, the very first time I set foot in Thailand it stole a piece of my heart and I’ve always wanted to return (I still plan to live on Koh Tao one day – it’s just so serene and perfect!) – but first there are so many place I want to see, people I want to meet and cultures I want to dive into.

This trip has felt like a home away from home for me, somewhere where I can take some time out to relax, rejuvenate my mind and come home feeling refreshed. When I’m back I’ll be blogging full time which petrifies and excites me all at the same time – I can’t wait to start turning my blog into a proper business and collaborating with lots of amazing brands.

This trip has also given me time to really reflect on all the places I wanted to explore in the world – I can’t wait to get home and get some plans into action but it’s always, always been a dream of mine to live in New York for three months, but I’d also like to do some more solo travelling in Europe after my trip to Paris last year, I’m hoping to visit Croatia, Barcelona and Sweden to name a few. I’d love to interrail around Europe next summer, spend some time in Bali, Goa and a short trip to the Maldives as well as tour America and Canada too. P.s sorry for the guilty self-promo but I’ll be documenting all my travels with the hashtag #FMIFTravels in case you’d like to come along for the ride!

The world really is my oyster and I’m ready to fulfil my life from here on in!

Koh Tao is absolutely amazing one of the loveliest places I've ever visited. I love the quote too that definitely explains people with wanderlust to a T. I hope you get to travel more and fall in love with more places! <3

Travelling is definitely something which I feel everyone has to do in their life, It's a great way to, forgive me for sounding cliche, 'find yourself' and it sounds like it's done you a lot of good already!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your trip, and I look forward to reading all about it soon!
