Last week I was kindly invited down to watch the Nottingham Trent University catwalk show for their Graduate Fashion Week collection alongside the lovely Andrea– and boy did it bring back memories! I graduated from university two years ago this Summer and although I didn’t study design or have a catwalk collection it brought back so many memories! From the delight on the students faces once the show was over, to celebrating with their proud parents, I remember that feeling of being so proud of what I’d achieved but also that I felt that I could finally breathe because it was all over!
I studied Fashion Media & Promotion down near Brighton but Nottingham Trent Universitywas actually one of my first choices but I decided against it in the end as it was a little too far from home for me as I’m a bit of a home bird! I remember going to look around the uni with my mum and being super impressed with the standard of work and the level of achievements and awards the graduates had achieved! I was so excited to watch the graduates show and I was not disappointed there were so many wonderful collections and talented students, here are my highlights from the day…
I started off backstage and got a sneak peek at the hair and makeup in action, the makeup was by Bourjois and from past experience the backstage was so calm and collected!
Model selfie caught in action!
A peek of the collections before I took my seat for the show!
I loved this contemporary collection by Daichi Togawa!
My favourite collection of the show from Yvonnne Yao!
Tassels and knitted prints from Samantha Goldsmith!
Flower power from graduate Lauren Anderson!
Neoprene and tailoring from Leisa Hughes!
A great collection from Lili Liu!
Caught in action! The double award winning collection by Ella Nisbett being snapped!
Loved this collection by Amy Clintworth!
A beautiful knitwear collection from Lydia Harding!
The sketchbooks and workbooks at the NTU stand were on display after the show!
Ella Nisbett (the collection I captured through someones phone above) won a double award for both the Stuart Peters Visionary Knitwear Award and the Menswear Award which was presented to her by Suzi Menkes and Laura Whitmore which is super exciting! I have to say I absolutely loved all of the collections and the students were all incredibly talented and individual, I’m sure each and everyone will go onto achieve amazing things! A huge thank you to NTU for inviting me down to watch their graduate catwalk show, it was a pleasure to watch and brought back some wonderful memories of my own university experience and graduation!
What do you think of the collection? IsNTUsomewhere you’d love to attend to?
