The past few weeks have been so busy for me, trying to juggle blogging with events and work – sometimes it all gets a bit much you know? On Friday my morning started great, I headed to Pinterest HQ for the most amazing coaching session on how to make the most my account with some great bloggers, I then headed to work to tie up some loose ends. As the afternoon passed I just seemed to sink into a bad mood and I couldn’t understand why – it happens to the best of us and small things can trigger it off.
I didn’t publish a blog post that day because I’d been so busy a the few days prior and I felt really guilty about it, I was worrying about not replying to emails or having planned enough content and I my mood went downhill that evening (which resulted to wine, cookies and an early night which seemed to solve everything!). I thought I’d put together a few tips on what I tend to do to cheer myself up if this ever happens and I’m having a bad day…
1.) Make a positive list: Sometimes there will never be a reason for being in a bad mood, we maybe a little tired, grumpy or that time of the month, it can take over and change your day in an instant. One of my favourite things to do is make a positive list of everything good in my life, people, achievements, holidays, dreams etc to cheer myself up and flip my thought process to being positive again.
2.) Paint your nails: I loveeeee painting my nails, I find it really therapeutic and it’s great to just take my mind off whatever I’m thinking of for a few minutes. If you’re feeling a bit down make sure you paint your nails a really bright colour to cheer yourself up!
3.) Ring a loved one: It’s always nice to talk to family, a friend or boyfriend about what’s bothering you or even just to take your mind of it even if it’s for a few minutes.
4.) Treat yourself: I’m not talking about blowing £300 on the ASOS website (although this does make me happy) but treat yourself to a little something that will make you smile, whether it’s your favourite chocolate bar, a new nail polish, glass of wine, or a pair of earrings. Also, from 29th April – 26th May, you can receive £5 off a L’Oreal Paris Color Riche L’Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick when purchasing a 500ml bottle of Diet Coke in Boots stores – diet coke and a lipstick = two of my favourite things!
5.) Buy flowers: Probably my favourite thing to do if I’m in a bad mood or upset is to buy myself some fresh flowers as they are beautiful to look at and smell lovely too. When I came home Friday in a bad mood these beautiful blooms (pictured above) from *Appleyard London where waiting for me and it honestly cheered up my day no end! Also, if you want to purchase some for yourself the lovely guys are offering my readers 33% off – just use the code BLOG33 at checkout! If you’d looking to cheer up a loved one then you can always send them a bouquet too! 🙂
6.) Have a bubble bath: I always find having a hot bubble bath really relaxing and it helps me to clear my mind of any clouded thoughts, I usually read a book to take my mind elsewhere for a while.
7.) Take your mind off the issue: If something in particular is bothering you do something to take your mind off of it whether it’s going for a walk, heading to the gym for a workout, reading a book or watching a film – set aside some time to focus on something else.
8.) Have some pamper time: Face mask, hair mask, pedicure, tanning session – indulge yourself in a pamper evening to feel good about yourself and get some positivity back into your day!
What do you do if you’re having a bad day? Would love to hear your recommendations!
