Saturday is one of my favourite days of the week as it always seems to be my ‘get up and get shit done’ day y’know? Sundays are for lie ins, long walks and roast dinners but for me Saturdays always seem to be fairly productive. Rob always works on a Saturday so I usually spend it catching up on blog work and planning to take over the world with my bestie (over cookies and wine no less), so here are my top tips on how I stay productive and get the most from my Saturday – I’d love to hear yours!
1.) Get up early: I try to stick to Sundays for lie ins (unless i’m reallyyyyyy tired or hungover), I always try to set my alarm for half 7/8 on a Saturday and treat it as I would a normal weekday where I work from home. I tend to be more productive if I look at the day as a working one (albeit a fun day no less – it is Saturday after all!).
2.) Go for a work out: The past few Saturdays I’ve been booking myself in for a Body Attack class at Virgin Active – the first week everyone kept saying to me 8am on a Saturday are you mad?! But I can’t tell you how good it feels to have worked up a sweat and to be ready to take on the rest of your day by 9am (the time I’m more the likely be getting up if I had a lie in). I highly recommend booking onto a class as I find it makes me get up, if I was just going for a workout I could do that at 10am after I’ve faffed around but booking onto a class I have to get up and attend which I always feel great about after!
3.) Have something yummy for breakfast or lunch: I’m not talking fry ups here (that’s for lazy Sunday brunches) – on a Saturday I like to have a big breakfast/lunch to keep me fuelled for the day, this morning I made banana protein pancakes with blueberries, cinnamon and organic peanut butter which were insanely delicious (think I might blog a recipe soon?!) so try to opt for something healthier that will keep you fuller for longer – this way you’ll have more energy for your day ahead.
4.) Make a to-do list: One of the first things I do when I get back from the gym (after washing my hair OBV) is make a to-do list, I’ll sit down and work out what blog posts I want to publish that week, followed by what I want the images to look like or any products I’d like to include, I also work out any social media scheduling I need to do or general errands such as putting stuff on eBay etc – I always find it helps to write everything down, it’s also a great feeling when you start to see things getting ticked off your list!
5.) Run some errands: Saturday mornings I usually put a couple of loads of washing on, there’s always some sort of post office encounter whether I’m picking up parcels or sending stuff I’ve sold on eBay or Depop, I also like to get my shopping in for the week so on Sunday evenings I can prep my meals for work. Set aside a couple of hours for running general errands as it always feel so good to keep on top of them!
6.) Have some downtime: In the afternoon once I’ve worked my way through my to-do list I’ll set aside some time to paint my nails, fake tan or have a face mask – I usually go out Saturday evenings whether it’s for a few drinks with the girls or dinner with Rob, so around 4pm I like to spend a couple of hours having some me time and getting ready for the night ahead.
7.) Reward yourself: The feeling of knowing I have all my blog pictures done for week or have scheduled the next three days blog posts/social media is such a great feeling! It’s so worth getting yourself up an hour or two earlier and getting everything done so you can kick back and watch a film or nosey around the shops for a while – set a to-do list of what you want to achieve that day then set yourself a little reward at the end of it so you have something to work towards!
