Towards the end of last year I blogged about creating an office space in my bedroom, since then I’ve moved my desk area around slightly and wanted to do a post about how I organise my desk to keep me productive. Working from home two days a week it’s super important for me to have a separate area to work from so I can use my time productively, it’s also really nice to feel like you’re at ‘work’ too rather than just working from my bedroom, I thought I’d put together some tips on how I achieve this!

Keep it minimal: I like to keep my space really minimal and clutter free as it helps me clear my mind, if my desk is messy I find that I can’t concentrate as I’m worried about the mess rather than focusing on the work I’m doing. My room is mainly white with splashes of colour but I like to keep my desk area really in keep with my room and minimal also to keep my desk clear.

Decorate your space: Over the last few months I’ve picked up some cute postcards from Paperchase to decorate my workspace – I tend to buy quotes or sayings that help keep me motivated. I always tend to add candles to my space, during the day I love to burn some of my favourites while I’m working as it helps me to stress less and relax, I also recently put up a heart blackboard that my mum bought me for Christmas so I can jot down any ideas or reminders. Every week or two I treat myself to some fresh flowers so my desk space smells lovely and looks nice too!

Stay organised: I keep all of my paperwork in my drawer on my desk and clear it out every couple of weeks so I can keep on top of it all and it doesn’t clutter my desk. I usually have 3/4 notebooks on the go at one time so I have them stacked on my desk so they are within easy reach – I’m a sucker for pretty notebooks too which means they look nice too. I always make sure my weekly planner is on my desk at all times as it helps me stay organised and I refer to it daily.

Add something to make you smile: It’s so nice to have ‘personal’ touches in your office space, I have a picture of me and Rob from Thailand on my desk that I love along with a buddha statue that I picked up in Thailand and some pebbles that Rob collected for me on a beach trip too. My best friend also got me a beautiful card which I have stuck above my desk, it’s always so nice to see things around you that make you smile, I feel it drives me to work harder and make myself and my loved ones proud!

How do you keep productive with your workspace? Anything I need to be doing?

Creating a workspace that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing is a must whenever you're working at home. It definitely helps to have things clutter free and organised, I'm very much like you in terms of if my workspace is a mess, my mind is mentally cleaning up! Lovely post!
