The other day I was browsing through my makeup and I realised how many pieces of my daily go-to products are from drug stores and are actually really great, affordable products! I am a true believer that if a product is as amazing as it claims to be and I can’t find a cheaper alternative then I’m prepared to pay more for it, but when there are such incredible products sitting in some of our favourite drug stores such as Superdrug and Boots for a fraction of the price, there’s no need to spend unnecessary money if it does the same job! Whilst looking through I thought I’d pick out a few favourites and put together my top ten must haves under £10, so here goes!…
SEVENTEEN Instant Glow Shimmer Brick: This shimmer brick is almost a bronzer/ highlighter all in one and is probably the product that you want to be packing with you on your summer holidays as it will top up your tan and add a beautiful glow at the same time, perfect! At £4.99 a go this product really is a bargain (and a great dupe for the Bobbi Brown shimmer bricks too!), I know I’ll be re-purchasing this summer as this one will be long gone by then!
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation: This foundation is amazing for the price and is probably one of my top foundations (ever) that I tend to use. It’s lightweight enough that it doens’t sit in any creases/dry skin but it gives a great level of coverage, it also has a really nice fresh/dewy finish to give you a ‘I woke up like this’ look (although we don’t all really wake up looking like Beyonce now do we?!).
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara: I picked this mascara up the other day as I heard it was a great dupe for the Benefit Roller Lash (it is!) and I’ve been wearing it pretty much every day ever since! It doesn’t leave my eyelashes clumpy but it still gives them plenty of volume and thickness which I love, I’ll certainly be re-purchasing as I can’t see this leaving my life anytime soon!
Bourjois Colourband 2-in-1 Eyeshadow & Liner: oh my goodness. Where do I start with these babies?! All I can say is if you haven’t tried them yet, try them! They are honestly amazing – I’ve been loving the bronze and pink/lilac shade and have been wearing them since I got them. My makeup for work days is usually kept quite minimal (as I’d rather have the time asleep) but sometimes you just want a little oomph to your look so I’ve found these liners great as they genuinely take two minutes to apply, blend it in and you’re good to walk out of the door. I couldn’t recommend them anymore!
Makeup Revolution ‘Iconic 3’ Eyeshadow Palette: When this palette was realised it was blogged about a lot as many referred to it as the Naked 3 dupe – and I have to admit it’s a pretty palette for just £4 and has so many similar shades to the Naked palette. It’s packed full of beautiful nude, pinks and neutral tones that are all wearable (even if you’re a little weary of using eyeshadow) – but at £4 this is the perfect starter palette for someone who’s new to shadows or a must-have for anyone who loves wearing shadows as these ones have proved to be really long lasting and easy to apply. Best £4 you’ll spend!
Kiko Dark Circle Concealer: I’ve always been a huge fan of Kiko makeup, especially their foundations and concealers – I picked up one of their heavier duty concealers last year and it’s still a staple in my makeup bag as it’s such a great product. I spotted this new dark circle concealers when in store the other day and couldn’t wait to try it, I applied it and blended it in with my Real Techniques sponge and the effect was instantly noticeable! I have a feeling this little gem will be saving me on many a Monday morning (and every other day of the week for that matter!).
Bourjois Bronzing Powder: This has to be my go-to powder and has been for quite some time now, it has gold flecks in it so it gives a real natural bronzed glow rather than a heavy matte finish which can look too overdone. It also it infused with the scent of chocolate (key selling point right there girls I’m telling you!), I also love how its so compact and it’s super handy to keep in my bag at all times!
MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter: This is by far the dreamiest highlighter you’ll ever pick up for £3, and that’s a fact! Lately I’ve been loving a real glowing look with peachy cheek colour and some good contour/highlighting and this product has been put to good use! I usually just gently apply it with my index finger as I find I can build it up easier, it has a real striking finish and is really pigmented – I’m seriously impressed with this product, they also have another shade which I’ll be purchasing soon!
Kiko Pencil Lip Gloss: I picked up these pencil lip glosses on a recent trip to Westfield and it was love at first sight! Straight away they reminded me of the Nars lip pencils or even the new Maybelline ones, however these pencils had a £3.90 price tag and I couldn’t quite believe it. Both of these colours instantly drew me in and they look just as dreamy on as they do to look at, I snapped both up without a second thought and haven’t looked back since!
Max Factor Creme Puff Blush: Lately these blushes have been compared a lot to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting blushers which I still personally haven’t tried yet but from seeing comparisons they look like great dupes! For just £8.99 a pop I knew I had to give one of these blushes a whirl and I’ve been really impressed! The pigmentation is great and they have a really nice glow to them, almost as if they were mixed with a highlighter and it leaves a beautiful fresh look when applied. I’m keen to try out some more colours now, let me know if you have a favourite shade!
Did you spot any of your drug store favourites in this post? Anything I need to try?
