BEST OF BEAUTY 2014

I wasn’t planning to do any round up posts but then I got thinking about how many amazing products and brands I’ve discovered this year, both new finds and previous loves. Not of all these products are new releases just items that I’ve been wearing a lot this year, here goes…

THE NAILS:

I’ve always been a fan of Essie polishes and this year I discovered ‘Sole Mate’ – the perfect wine red and ‘Summit of Style’ a rose gold glitter – a dreamy combo together too! I picked up Formula X ‘Heart-Stopping’ whilst in Paris back in September and adore the formula as well as the iced blue/lilac shade, a great winter colour!
THE FOUNDATION:

I recently discovered the Dior Forever foundation and can honestly say it’s the best foundation that I have ever used, I will be re-purchasing as soon as this one is finished! It leaves a fresh, dewy complexion but has the perfect amount of coverage. Another foundation that I discovered during the later part of this year was the Bare Minerals Bare Skin which is super lightweight and dewy, a favourite for good skin days! An all time favourite of mine is the Liz Earle Signature Foundation which I know I can count on.

THE BLUSHER/BRONZER/HIGHLIGHTER:

This year I’ve dived into the realm of cream blushers, something that I’d never quite gotten used to before as I’m usually a powder blush kinda gal. My two favourites this year have to be Benefit Majorette Blusher – a beautiful peach shade, and Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm ‘Robust Rhubarb’  – the ‘my cheeks but better’ shade! For bronzers my go-to has been the Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzer as it’s the perfect shade come summer or winter. In terms of highlighters this Urban Decay Naked Illuminated knocks anything else off the spot as it’s just so pretty, it’s super shimmery and adds the right amount of sparkle.

THE LIPS:

I’m 100% a berry lip kinda gal come winter and my go-to shades this year had to be; Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick ‘Glastonberry’, Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet ‘Grand Cru’ and NARS Satin Lip Pencil ‘Palais Royal’. My best friend bought me the Limecrime Velvetines ‘Red Velvet’ for Christmas so even though it just scrapes the barrell as a 2014 favourite I have to admit I’ve been wearing it non-stop and I was rocking this beauty NYE. For brights my favourites have to be MAC ‘Lady Danger’ and Clinique ‘Matte Mandarin’ – both beautiful orange shades which always turn a head when wearing them!

THE EYES:

My choices for favourite eye products were super easy to make as I’ve discovered a few dream products this year that I wont stop using anytime soon! For brows I’ve been using the Burberry Effortless Eyebrow Definer in ‘Ash Brown’ which give such a natural finish, it’s honestly amazing! I add some MAC Brow Set in ‘Brown Ebony’ over the top to keep my brows in check for the day. I always seem to struggle finding a liquid eyeliner that I can really get along with, so when I found the Bourjois Mega Liner ‘Black’ it was love at first use and I rarely use anything else. I’ve been using the Benefit They’re Real Mascara for around 4/5 months now and adore it, the application is great and it gives such a great finish to my lashes.

THE BASE/BB CREAMS:

My top two BB Creams of the year go to The Body Shop All-in-one BB Cream – which is such an intriguing formula as a moisturiser then develops into a cream upon application which I love, and the Burberry Fresh Glow BB Cream in ‘Medium’ which leaves a lovely dewy finish for days when I don’t need as much coverage. In terms of primers the Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer wins hands down for me as I’ve not found anything that comes close to this product, it’s worth the money in my eyes as you only need the tiniest amount each time so it lasts for ages!

What were your favourite beauty products that you used in 2014? It was so hard to narrow down!

One of my favourites is Majorette too!! It's such a nice blusher! Mine is already looking so grubby, thank god for the see-through plastic cap thingy over it! x
