Amsterdam Marriott Hotel: Stradhouderskade 12 Amsterdam 1054 ES Netherlands

Last week me and a friend spent three days in Amsterdam (see what we got up to and my recommendations on what to do if you’re visiting here). During our visit we stayed at the Amsterdam Marriott hotel, which was based a stones throw away from Leidseplein – if you’ve been to Amsterdam before then you will know this square which is full of bars, restaurants and great nightlife – if you’ve never been before then I’d highly recommend staying near here as it’s so central and there is always so much going on.

The hotel was also a 5 minute walk from Vondel park which is beautiful and the Museum quarter which is also another must if you’re visiting. It was super easy to find our way to the hotel, the tram drivers are so helpful so we just told him were we needed to go and he told us were to hop off (make sure you get a day pass as it’s only $7 and will take you anywhere including the Metro and the buses!). The Marriott was only a short walk from the tram stop which was super handy, once we arrived at the hotel around 10am we were greeted by some lovely staff who whisked our bags off to our room. Our check in wasn’t meant to be until 2pm but we were so lucky as our room was ready when we arrived (we’d been up since 5am for our flight so this was like music to our ears!).

Our room was large and it had a hugeee double bed with super fluffy/bouncy/comfy cushions… my favourite! We had a desk area which looked out the double windows onto the streets below, a huge double wardrobe (those folks at Marriott know how to keep us girls happy!), and a lovely bathroom – which we soon overtook with an array of beauty/hair/makeup products! The only downside to our room was that we only had one window and there was another wall bricked up next to the window where ideally there could have been another window so the room wasn’t as light as it could have been.

Each evening we would whack on a radio station on the TV, drink some wine and prance around the room getting ready for our night out. The staff were so helpful and gave us some maps and told us how to get to our gig venue as it was out of town which was really kind of them, the staff really made you feel like they couldn’t do enough for you and were happy to help with any inquiries which is when you know you’re staying a good hotel!

In the mornings we took our albeit slightly hungover selves down to breakfast (which we nearly overslept and missed on the first morning) – there was a huge choice for breakfast including pastries, a traditional fried breakfast, cereal, fruit, juices and so much more. We tucked into a fry up and muffins on our first morning – the perfect hangover cure which set us up for a full day ahead!

We had such a lovely stay at the hotel and I would highly recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Amsterdam! The hotel decor was luxe, the staff were super helpful and friendly, the rooms were large, it was in a central location (and the food was amazing!). If you’re planning a trip then make sure you check out the hotel, you can book here – prices start at 194 Euros per night (approx. £150) per room which is great value for what you get!

Have you stayed in a Marriott before? What did you think?
