Two weeks ago I took a trip to East London for a new hair update – quite a radical change from my subtle balayage, I opted for a bright pink dip dye… and I love it! So let’s rewind to the other Thursday…
I arrived at the BLEACH Dalston salon and was greeted by Sapphire, my stylist (who was amazing, highly highly recommend her if you are planning a trip!). I knew that I was going into the salon wanting a blonde dip dye with a super cool colour over the top, originally I wanted Violet Skies – a pastel lilac but Sapphire told me straight away that it just wasn’t possible as my hair is naturally so dark, it would have to be bleached at least twice for the colour to show. Sapphire suggested going for the Big Pink and I thought, why not?
So I had my hair bleached with a dip dye and sat with my foils on for about an hour, I then had my hair washed and the colour applied. Even when my hair was wet I could see the ends were bright pink – it was so exciting, I could’t wait to have it blow dried so I could properly see the colour. I’ve always wanted a bright colour in my hair but am forever being told by hairdressers that ‘the colour won’t take’ – but it appears BLEACH make hair dreams come true! I was genuinely shocked at how bright it turned out as I just thought it wouldn’t show up as much but I was absolutely over the moon with the result.
The second I left the salon (around 3 hours later, which is incredible given the transformation my hair underwent!) I was snapping the results and uploading it to Instagram and sending it to all of my friends – I was so thrilled with it. So, how well did the colour last? I had my hair done exactly two weeks ago today and my pink is still going strong although it’s fading out to a light pink/peach colour – which I’m actually really loving! However, I’m off to Reading this weekend so have decided to top the colour up again with the Super Cool Colour in The Big Pink. I will write back on once it’s applied and let you know how easy the process was and how it turned out.
In terms of treatments I had the Bleachenders (dip dye) which is £80 and a Super Cool Colour put over the top which is £55 – I would fully recommend having the Super Cool Colour applied in the salon if it’s your first time, it was my first time of having my hair dyed a bright colour and I would have been too scared to do it myself , it’s also great at the staff can advise you on how best to look after your treatment too. Once your colour is on you can then pick up your Super Cool Colour for just £5 from either the Bleach salon (or website: www.bleach-london.myshopify.com) or at boots and keep the colour topped up yourself.
I love that the colours are temporary (usually 2-5 washes) so I think I may give the purple a whirl next?! The great thing is, if you’re not too struck on the colour it doesn’t matter as it’s not permanent! I’d really love to go back for another for another round of bleach to see if I can get a pastel colour on the end, but for now I’m over the moon with my new hair and am wholeheartedly embracing the change (although not sure my poor dad has the same view, haha!).
If you’re looking to get your hair coloured I couldn’t recommend the Bleach salon enough, I can honestly say that I have never, ever left a salon feeling so happy as I did as when I walked out of BLEACH. The staff just seem to get exactly what it is you want, Sapphire talked me through the colour and treatment for a good ten minutes before she even touched my hair so I felt like I was in good hands straight away. Don’t forget they also have a salon in Topshop, Oxford Circus if that’s closer for you to visit! Even if you aren’t having a treatment make sure sure swing by as the salons are just so cool!
Have you ever been to Bleach? I’d love to hear about your hair tales!
