Last weekend I went to V festival in Hylands Park, Chelmsford and tomorrow I’m off to Reading for four days – so I thought it was about time I talked about festival necessities in case you are a festival newbie, or just need help packing! During my Festival Edit I did several posts including; What’s in my bag – day edition and also what’s in my bag – camping edition so do check those out for my full check list of what to pack.
Here are the necessities that I packed for V and couldn’t of lasted the weekend without…
Carex Strawberry Laces Hand Gel: I’m going to start with the most important thing to remember; hand sanitizer! I can’t stress how much you need to pack one – festivals are not clean places and it’s so handy to pack some hand gel as they take up next to no room and are an absolute must! My favourite one is this one as it smells so good and it’s currently on offer in Superdrug for £1 – bargain!
Radical Skincare SPF 30: Another must have for any summer festival – suncream, one of my favourites is this Radical Skincare one as it’s a high factor (I’d strongly recommend applying even if it’s not obviously hot or sunny as you can still get burnt – especially when you’re sitting around drinking all day, heat stroke is no fun!). This suncream is great to pack too as it’s compact and fits it’s my backpack no problem!
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo +: If you have oily/blemish prone skin like myself then this is perfect for festivals. My skin doesn’t love all day drinking, camping or not being able to wash it properly during festivals so this product is great for trying to combat that on the go.
Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel: This product is a genuine lifesaver for me (whether I’m at a festival or not!) this follows on from above, after I’ve applied my Effeclar Duo + I always pop some of this gel directly onto any spots I have and it gets to work straight away on banishing them. It’s one of those gels you apply and can feel tingling straight away which I love as I know it’s working! Anytime I get a blemish I’ve used this and have seen amazing results, during V I applied it at night or even in the morning under my makeup as it dries really quickly.
Valeur Absolue Harmonie Perfume (travel size): Some kind of body spray/ perfume is always a must as festivals – especially ones that don’t have showers and baby wipes washes are required, eww! Luckily we only camped one night at V so it wasn’t too bad but we’ll be at Reading for three nights, although they do have showers… hurrah! Anyway, make sure you take a mini fragrance of some sort – this one was my go-to for V as it’s quite a fresh, floral scent which was perfect.
Bumble and bumble Pret-A-Powder: Dry shampoo… where oh where would we be at festivals without dry shampoo? My hair is so naturally oily and I usually wash it every other day, so I really struggle at festivals where I can’t wash my hair. It’s usually a case of cane the dry shampoo and pin it all up with a nice head scarf come day four! A favourite of mine is the Pret-A-Powder as it double as a dry shampoo and volumizing product and it leaves my hair looking instantly refreshed!
John Freida Luxurious Volume All-Day Hold Hairspray: After applying lashings of dry shampoo and styling your hair you need a good hold hairspray to keep your locks in tact whilst dancing all day, this John Freida travel sized one is my go-to as it smells incredible and keeps my hair in all day!
Charles Worthington Sunshine Protector Leave In Spray: Give your hair a few spritz of this miracle product each morning before setting off to the arena and rest assured that your hair is protected against any heat damage. I love that this product is a leave in spray so you don’t need to worry about washing it out, you can just spray it in and go, genius!
Dr.Andrew Weil for Origins Multi-Bright Dark Circle Minimizer: Lack of sleep/bad night sleep are always the way at festivals and this little pot of goodness pretty much became my best friend at V and I’m sure it will this weekend too! After applying my moisturiser I popped some of this under my eyes to help cool/depuff those festival bags (and trust me they will be there!).
Other (slightly more boring) festival necessities you need to pack include deodorant (obviously!), tissues – lots of them as from previous experience the toilets always run out after the first day!, hand wipes, face wipes (yep, all skincare routines tend to be thrown out of the window at festivals and replaced by a quick face wipe to remove all makeup!), alcohol – you can drink in the camping areas just not the arenas – although don’t take anything in glass bottles, boxes of wine, cans of beer/cider or pre mixed cocktails are always a good shout, and lastly pack some snacks as the music never normally kicks off until about 2 and festival food is so expensive if you’re buying 2/3 meals a day – I always pack some dry foods such as cereal bars, biscuits or crisps (all health/diet kicks tend to be lost during festivals too!).
Also, whilst we’re on the festival note – I’ve been informed about this amazing competition and wanted to share it with you all! If you’ve never been to a festival (or even if you have!) make sure you enter as it will be an amazing experience!…
