So, you’ve seen the amazing villa we stayed in and the day spa that we visited and now I’m bringing you our ‘sunset private dinner’ which we enjoyed on our last night at the Renaissance Phuket resort & spa, the setting was just incredible and so so romantic (pretty sure people thought we’d just got married haha) – well actually saying that, on our first night at the hotel me and Rob had a wander along the beach to find somewhere local to eat and we actually saw a couple enjoying the sunset dining experience and we thought they’d just got married – the setting is just so perfect!
We arrived at the hotels main restaurant and was led to our table on the beach by our own private waiter (ooh-er!), we was offered a a glass of champagne to start our evening which was lovely so we could toast the evening in together and watch the sunset. We decided to order a bottle of Italian white wine to go with our dinner and was also brought out some ice cold water (which is so appreciated as it’s still so hot even at 7pm!!). For our pre-starter we enjoyed an avocado, tomato and prawn stack with toasted bread which was amazing! This combination just worked so well together and I’d love to find a recipe and re-create it as it was a lovely pre-starter as it wasn’t too filling.
For our second starter (feels so strange saying that haha!) we had thinly sliced tuna with spinach topped with mozzarella and more yummy toasted bread which was divine. It was quite salty but in a good way as it complimented the other ingredients, I really enjoyed did starter and it went down a treat with Rob too! Our main course was something else entirely!… I’m not a huge steak fan and I’d even go as far to say that it’s usually the last thing on a menu that I’d order, but that night for some reason I really fancied it and thought I’d give it a go – and boy I was disappointed as it was the best steak ever! (I know I’m no steak expert but I’ve tried enough of Rob’s dinners to know that it was a good’un!) It was so juicy and seasoned perfectly, it was served with asparagus, sautéed mushrooms and spinach & cheese… it was honestly so yummy (safe to say there there wasn’t any leftovers on either of our plates!!).
After our mains we were served some mango sorbet with dragonfruit and watermelon which was super refreshing after our meal and was perfect as a post dinner dessert. After about 20/30 minutes (and a couple more glasses of wine) we were brought out a platter of fruit and brownie skewers with melted chocolate dip – the perfect way to finish our meal. Of course me and Rob fought over the brownies and not the fruit haha but we cleared the lot and were truly stuffed by the end of our meal!
We had the most amazing, romantic evening and I’d recommend it to anyone (I think it’s the perfect setting for a special occasion!). The food, drink and service was truly outstanding and I hope that we are able to experience it again in the future as it was a night that I’ll never forget.
