TRAVEL: RENAISSANCE RESORT PHUKET – THE SPA

During our two-night stay at the Renaissance resort in Phuket me & Rob took a trip to the hotels Quan spa for a couples ‘Choco bliss package’ – Trust me I was as intrigued as you are! (read on and I’ll explain!) We turned up in the morning of our second day and needed to enjoy some relaxation after a tonne of travelling, we was greeted warmly by the staff who offered us welcome drinks as we filled out our details.
We were then taken to one of seven couples treatment rooms which were amazing! They were so spacious and all had joint rooms – in the first room was a huge spa Jacuzzi with a seating area and television and through the second room was two large treatment beds. The rooms were really light as one side was all glass which looked straight out into the gardens so it was also uber relaxing!
The first half an hour of our treatment consisted of a chocolate body scrub, we started off face down so I could smell the scrub but not see it (which smelt divine by the way!). I’m not sure why but I was expecting them to be using a clear scrub that just smelt of chocolate but no!.. they actually melt the chocolate and add a scrub to it which is amazing (all be it slightly sticky when you turn over!). Once we’d had our scrubs rubbed in we both went for an outdoor shower to wash it all off – I can’t tell you how much I laughed at the sight of us, the scrub made us look like we’d walked straight out of TOWIE.. Rob was least impressed haha!
Once we had showered we headed back to our treatment room for an hour-long full body massage which was just amazing, I feel myself getting sleepy just reminiscing at how nice it was! We asked for a ‘medium’ strength massage – trust me if you ever go to Thailand don’t EVER ask for a firm/hard massage as it’s SO painful! Our massage was super relaxing although I had several knots in my back (darn backpack!) and she worked those out for me which were a little painful at the time as it always is but my back felt so good after!
After our treatments had finished we were led to a lounging area where we enjoyed some jasmine tea and relaxed for about 15 minutes – both of us couldn’t wait to crash on a sunbed so after leaving the spa we headed straight for the pool and endured an afternoon of napping and swimming which was pure bliss. Our skin felt SO soft after our treatment it was ridiculous – don’t think Rob could quite get used to having nice smooth skin for a while bless him!
Overall, our treatments were super relaxing and it was so lovely to be able to enjoy the experience together! Our time at the spa truely made our day and whole stay at the hotel and absolute delight, we left feeling so refreshed it was great. If the chocolate thing isn’t floating your boat then I’d definitely recommend a couples treatment anyway as it’s a great experience to share together- you can find the full treatment list on the Quan spa page here.
