Champneys Henlow Health Resort

A few weeks ago at the beginning of September was my 23rd Birthday (how am I so old already?!) and I spent the day at the Champneys health resort in Henlow. I live in Essex so it was pretty straight forward to get there and we arrived in about an hour and a half.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the lovely staff who sat us down to run though our schedule for the day. We were both booked in for a half hour message mid morning, then followed by lunch and topped off with a Thalassotherapy treatment in the pool.

My massage was amazing!! I’m quite funny with massages and I feel that I’ve never 100% enjoyed previous one as I find they are either too rough where it has been painful or too gentle where I don’t feel any benefit. This one however was spot on, the masseuse asked for my weaknesses and really worked the knots out of my shoulders.

Lunch then followed the massage and again was a real treat! As Champneys is a health resort lunch was full of healthy but delicious foods, I went with salmon, half a jackets potatoes and steamed vegetables. After lunch we had a two hour slot in which we relaxed on the beds by the pool, went swimming and also spent some time in the Jacuzzi  It was great having a light lunch as we didn’t have that horrible post lunch bloating and were able to get straight in the pool!

Our Thalassotherapy session was for 25 minutes and it was a great experience! When I arrived for the spa day I’d never heard of the treatment and was unsure of what it entailed but I was pleasantly surprised! The pool is set to 38 degrees and has four different salts in it, it’s like a big Jacuzzi pool but the jets are stronger and more specific so you spend some time targeting the shoulders, middle body and legs. It’s great for circulation and apparently helps to reduce cellulite – I stayed on the leg section a little longer to make sure it worked haha!

I had the most amazing birthday filled with relaxation and came away so chilled. I highly recommend the spa days to anyone and I can’t wait to book my next one and return! 🙂

Have you been to a Champneys spa before?

* I went to Champneys as a birthday press visit but all opinions are genuine and my own*
